Character Creation

Character ability scores will be chosen using the point buy system. Each character gets 20 points. We will use the fast experience point advancement track. You get maximum hit points at level one. After that you will receive the median of your class hit die rounded up plus 1 (d6 = 5, d8 = 6, d10 = 7, d12 = 8) plus Con mod. Each character starts the game with two traits. The traits link covers the rules for trait selection, but it is not intended as a list of traits available in this campaign. Available traits are those listed in the available rulebooks.

Each character starts with the average starting wealth for their character class. Additional classes are here.

Human, half-elf, and half-orc characters must select an ethnicity. Ethnicity will play a huge role in the campaign. The Inner Sea World Guide lists all the Inner Sea ethnicities. The most common ethnicities in Varisia are Chelish, Shoanti, and Varisian. Varisia, Birthplace of Legends contains great detail on the native Varisian ethnicities.

The Sandpoint Cathedral honors the six most commonly worshiped deities in the region: Abadar, Desna, Erastil, Gozreh, Sarenrae, and Shelyn. It is up to you if this affects your deity selection. Characters who cast divine spells are strongly encouraged to select a specific deity.

Players who miss a game will not receive experience points for that session. This is not to punish players for missing a game, but to reward players for attending. In a campaign this long, players may drop out and be replaced. That is fine, and it may add fluidity that increases the perception of an evolving world. If your character dies, you can create a new character one level below the average party level. New players or substitute players will start one level below the average party level.
